This has been my most challenging organization project so far. The "before" pictures are pretty hairy. But before we get to that fun stuff, let's discuss what we needed to accomplish.
The goal of this project was to reconfigure shelving in a small store room to make the most use of the space and create a pathway that was easily navigable. This storage room belongs to a music store that provides sound equipment for stage productions. This equipment is quite bulky, yet delicate. And is moved in and out frequently. This required easy and safe access to this equipment.
This set up was not easy, nor was it safe.
As you can see, there is no space to move about ...at all. Even just removing the contents was challenging due to the limited mobility. We had to partially move shelving just to get things out of the space. At one point, we had a shelving unit in the doorway and we were passing items through the shelves to get them out of the room. But thanks to my slender assistant, we were able to pass items through narrow openings and ultimately extract most of the contents.
With a good chunk of the contents removed, we started reconfiguring the shelving to maximize floor and wall space. Since we were in a confined space, this was like solving one of those slider puzzles.
.
With a measuring tape and some creativity, we found the perfect configuration. The amount of floor space gained was surprising even to an optimist like myself. It was actually exciting (I'm showing my true nerd self here). That excitement was short-lived when we stepped back to take a look at everything that had come OUT of the closet and now had to be moved back IN. Oy vey.
But there was a silver lining. Once everything was spread out and could be seen with an new perspective, the client realized that only a fraction of what came out needed to go back in. The majority of the items could be donated, discarded, or rehomed to other locations. Now THIS was exciting.
Not only were the shelves masterfully reconfigured (I had some help with this), but many of the shelves were now empty, allowing items from elsewhere in the store to move into storage where they truly belonged.
And there was still plenty of room
remaining for future items as the business grows. This was a major win, and a weight off of this client's shoulders.
Phew! So glad that we could help this business owner free up space and time so that they could now focus on actually driving the business forward.

Lisa saved me from a storage nightmare. I neglected taking on the task of organizing because it seemed so overwhelming. Lisa came in and quickly and methodically got the job done. She identified what my goals for the storage space were by asking clear and specific questions. From there she was able to divide things into categories, organizing the closet into zones for easy access for high use items and placing low use items in "archive" areas. My space went from overfull, cluttered, and mostly inaccessible to clean, easily accessible, organized, and even has plenty of space for additional storage should I need it. I highly recommend Luna Sky for any organizing project you have.
